Movie Critics
They’re a bunch of pretentious arseholes, aren’t they?
Only the NY Times and Guardian are really worth reading. Every other critic tends to attack any film that isn’t to their tastes or adheres to cliche with a dictionary in one hand and their bloated head in the other.
Close Encounters was an alright movie, but it was stunningly well filmed and written, for example. But every...
Unreal
It’s been a while.
A busy while.
And it’s time to present an interesting piece of writing; my opinion on the Unreal series.
Unreal Tournament is pretty well the staple of “sport FPS” - brutal, fast paced and utterly adrenaline filled. And while UT99 was the first and best, UT2k4 and UT3 made a damn good crack at it. It seems strange that individuals constantly knock UT3...

Regarding police.uk
Talk about biased reporting. Server allocation is expensive and limited; I’d rather have a tax-funded site crash out than use my money for increased load limits.
And I am certain that the data is not complete.
And furthermore, the constant criticism of the police is made by those who are neither aware of the job’s demands nor of the massively overwrought command structure. Or of...

I am fed up of seeing posts of “support” and “pray for australia” on Tumblr, when I saw FUCKING ZERO for the floods in pakistan.
That would be because Australians don’t set IEDs.
The new games I played this year
Enjoy.
Mass Effect 2: Stunning writing. Gameplay is mediocre, but as a story it’s absolutely absorbing. Best narrative this year.
STALKER Call Of Pripyat: Probably the best RPG I’ve played in my life. Brutal, tough and everything a Ukrainian game based in Chernobyl should be. Near perfect.
Bioshock 2: Mediocre. Bioshock was a fantastic story, and very innovative. While in terms of...

Still worrying about 2012?
Only 1.79 billion of our 6.89 billion population even have the internet!
That means 5.1 billion people are unaware of the impending death because they haven’t read some article on the internet and believed it because it’s scary!
WOW!
Worrying about 2012? Let me help!
Earth’s mass is 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms. That’s about 5 million, billion, billion kilograms. That’s a big, big, big number. Far bigger than it seems.
Earth is 24,901.99 miles in diameter. Considering 1000 miles from the UK to America is vast, that’s a pretty big number too.
Earth is travelling through space at 108000 kilometers (67000 miles) per hour....

Coming Soon
I’ll be reviewing The Pacific. On Blu-Ray. Because I’m so cool.
I just spent £0.89 rather wisely
And if the British public keep Matt Cardle or whatever his name is off the charts, it’s yet another victory for humankind.
Student Fees
This is not about the protests. This is an analysis of why those fees have risen to £6000 or more.
Simply put, the key reason the economy was in freefall was entirely due to the digital age.
Thanks to money booms, money was lent to those who couldn’t possibly pay it back. Under normal circumstances this does not occur, but the more a bank lends the more money it technically has, and the...
To sum up the Student Protests:
“There will be more people on the streets [in coming months] - we’ve got to fight the coalition ripping apart the social fabric of this country.”
You’re the one pulling it apart.
An observation
Before I crack into a few other things I’m writing about properly, a quick observation to note.
Why is it, that on Facebook, all of these ‘quote likes’ are generally based around male humans being ‘sweet’ or ‘romantic’?
Allow me to answer that.
If you have sufficient time to burn on Facebook as a female (or indeed, a human of either sex), you’re...

Delays versus Bugs. PR Nightmare.
Fallout: New Vegas. Gran Turismo 5. Half-Life 2 Episode 3. All have suffered at the hammer of the critic for the ultimate curse of the video game industry; getting the job finished on time.
Fallout: New Vegas
Heavily criticised for being ‘rushed out of the door’. Not tremendously buggy in relative terms, but suffers from critical save issues and the like that can severely affect...
My opinion regarding the Remembrance Day...
Quoted: Daily Mail.
“Asad Ullah, of Muslims Against Crusades, said: ‘We are demonstrating because this day is a day of remembrance to remember every single fallen soldier, including those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
‘We find it disgusting that innocent people, innocent children, have been killed in an illegal and unjust war and we are demonstrating against that.
‘We...

Doom 2
With rumours of Doom 4 rippling through the internet, and the completion of id’s RAGE well on its way, I believe it’s time for a bit of reflection on something I’d personally call “Game of the Decade” two time winner.
Doom 2 has a very special place in my heart. The kind of place where I will argue like a complete maniac to defend it - it’s way beyond...
Fallout: New Vegas and Fanboyism
You know what annoys me? A lot of things. But in terms of the internet, there’s a few things that rank above even the most tenacious of trolls. The ‘Bad Attitude Reviewer’ is one.
The online gaming magazine known as ‘The Escapist’ is technically a free and unbiased virtual paper, providing their readers with ”views and insights into the gaming industry that...
Halo Reach and COD:MW2; A Retrospective
So with virtually everyone no longer hyped nor…well, playing Halo Reach, I thought this would be an adequate moment to pose a simple question.
Why not?
The fact of the matter is that pinnacle games such as COD4 have utterly revolutionised online combat on consoles. The satisfaction from each level and each unlock has - for me - remained utterly unparalleled. Compare it to MW2’s...

Yahtzee Croshaw.
I’m sorry, but stating that a game should be able to stand alone on its singleplayer is very much fair but also very much judgemental.
There are many games that exist on the market with a single purpose; money. Thus, we get mediocre story and multiplayer just because it’s seen as standard.
Stating multiplayer has no part in a game review with titles such as COD, Halo or Battlefield...

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call Of Pripyat & Metro 2033...
I have no idea what it is with me and post-apocalyptic stuff. I remember someone criticising my Source mod and asking why I followed in the vein of the classic Russia-based RPG and I honestly couldn’t answer. A few buddies came up with a couple of ideas and I’ll come onto those later.
But for now, the reviews you didn’t know you’d been waiting for (insert groan at cliche)...
Humankind; stagnant?
I’m not the most positive person. In fact, I’m a realist and I won’t tiptoe around that. Thus, it’s difficult for me to see a path for humanity’s progress in the next fifty years.
I admit, I’m not trained to do so. But as a literary machine I’ve read a lot. People such as Orwell and H G Wells gave incredible insights into the future, and scientists such...
"Why there is barely anything to look forward in...
Being the argumentative sort, I’m never one to hold back when someone gets a bit annoyed. Chiefly because I feel that without balance, a rant is no more than a pointless series of observations with serious bias rather than a discussion.
So my buddy George Marriot posted over at his blog this ‘rant-tastic’ post. And I can’t help but add my own opinion and go over it. Give...

The ACTA and Drugs. Yeah.
This is a political essay and represents my opinion in a highly biased nature. This should not be taken into consideration in a job application; I’m just a bit hacked off about something.
Odds on, you haven’t been living under a rock but still won’t have heard of the ACTA.
The ACTA is the acronym for the “Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement”, or as ED puts it...
Micro Essay: "Gamers" rant
Following this article on The Escapist webpage, I had a thought or two. Which rapidly transmuted into annoyance. I posted the link to the Interlopers forum, and received an interesting video in response - a ‘girl gamer’ getting prissy and above herself regarding her sex in relation to online gaming.
OK, so we don’t see many females online with games such as MW2. But it raises...
